Rogerius sancti Hospitalis Ierusalem magister, with the agreement of his chapter, concedes under seal to Willelmus Baptizatus de Blancha Custodia, his wife Iohanna and their heirs the houses they bought from Iohannes Fulco and his wife Gilia for 97 besants, on condition that Willelmus Baptizatus and Iohanna pay the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem rent [census] of 1 besant, payable in two instalments, on the Feast of St John the Baptist and at Christmas. The Hospital of St John will have preemption rights. Otherwise the properties can be sold to anyone except milites and churches. The Hospital has received 2 besants and 2 solidi for agreeing to the sale. The houses are in the vicus Belcarii in Jerusalem, by the city wall and near the Porta Nova, next to the house of Gerardus to the east and the house of Galterius de Betinubilo to the north. Rogerius de Molins, sancte domus Hospitalis Jherusalem magister ac custos humilis, grants under seal to Johannes Poterius, his wife and heirs possession of a house Johannes had bought from Willelmus Barbota for 200 besants. The house may be given, sold or pledged to all except churches, milites, Suriani and other peoples who are not obedient to the Church of Rome, but if the intention is a sale the bajulus domorum of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem must be told and the Order will have preemption rights. Census of 3 and a half besants will be payable each year on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The house is situated in vico S. Johannis Evangeliste in the territory of the Hospital [in Jerusalem]. To the east is the rua Ispanie, to the west the rua S. Johannis Evangeliste, to the south the house of Bernardus de Blanchagarda, and to the north the house of Ugo de Romai. The Hospital is paid 2 besants and 2 solidi for its consent to this purchase.
