text: Jan. 2. Lateran. The bishop of Tripoli has informed the papacy of the number of churchmen beneficed in his church. Besides the 12 canons - a number confirmed by the Holy See - 2 further canons have been admitted on papal orders and others, having a yearly income of 100 besants, without victuals, have been appointed. Although the resources of the church have been weakened on account of the interdict, it is supporting a further 40 beneficed clergy, besides vicarii and stipendarii clerici. Pope Honorius III, therefore, assures that bishop that he is not obliged to accept any others recommended in papal letters, unless a specific reference is made.
