text: 1243 – c. 1250.* Acre. An inventory of deeds in the archive of the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans. (1) A vineyard at Castrum Regis, belonging to dominus Jacobus of Tripoli (Tripolitanus), which was bought for 100 besants. It is situated next to the vineyard of dominus Boonecasa antiquus by the road to Buchel. (2) 2 frusta terre and a house were bought from the domina de Amerun for 35 besants. The first is situated over the vineyard of dominus Andreas on the road to Tertille. The other is situated next to the newly planted vineyard of dominus Bernardus Dives over the cava. The house is situated near the house of dominus archbishop (archiepiscopus) of Nazareth. (3) The Hospital of St Mary spent 330 besants purchasing from the wife of dominus Odo de Furhun 1 frustum terre which is situated next to the land of dominus Guido de Renay in terra Alba, a propugnaculum or barbican which adjoins the barbican of Guido de Renay, a water cistern which is in front of the house of Ferreus-bracheus, and a house with a cistern inside, which is next to the house of dominus Symon Galiothe. (4) The Order bought all the inheritance of Simonis Galiothe for 250 besants. (5) The Order [domus] spent 310 besants, buying from the wife of dominus Wernerius de Paris 3 pecie terre, a garden and a house. The first pecia is situated within the land of dominus Raulus miles and dominus Ioseph. The second is located next to the well (fons) of the villa called Terschia and adjoins land belonging to the canons of the Holy Sepulchre. The third is within the bounds (in divisa) of the villa called Sivenete, over the road to Acre and next to the land of dominus Guido de Renay. The garden, within which is a cistern, is situated over the garden of Brachs-de-ferre. The house is situated next to the old court (vetus curia). (6) The Order bought from domina Dulcia a vineyard, situated between the vineyards of the bishop and of a balistarius, and 2 frustra terre, of which one is located over the land of dominus Petrus Markise on the road of the villa de Fenes, and the other is above the red vineyard (vinea rufa) of dominus Bernardus Dives. (7) The Order bought 2 houses for 100 besants. One, in which there is a water cistern, is ruined and is located in front of the house of dominus Henricus. The other is situated between the houses of the archbishop and dominus Henricus. (8) The Order spent 100 besants, buying from the daughter of Hugo Merlin a vineyard situated between the vineyards of the balistarius and Petrus de Schalun, 2 frusta terre, of which is under the vineyard of Martinus and the other over the red vineyard (vinea rufa) of dominus Bernardus Dives, and a house behind the house of Galterius and against the house of Stephanus. (9) The Order spent 110 besants buying from dominus Abraam Furnir a house located between the house of Martinus and the garden of Guillelmus Malinger, and behind the house that has been purchased there is a little garden in which are 2 cisterns. (10) The Order bought a garden, situated beyond the garden of Petrus Marchise, from domina Guncelina for 11 besants. (11) The Order bought 1 frustum terre, situated beyond the vineyard of Iacobus de Triple, from Iohannes the son of Marinus de Iader for 150 besants. (12) The Order spent 500 besants buying from dominus Henricus dispensator episcopi a vineyard on the road to Suphia, adjoining the vineyard of Galterius, a house situated over against the house of the archbishop, a garden and a cistern behind the house, near the garden of Rogerius, and 3 petie terre, of which one is located by the church of St Mary Magdalene, the second lies over the vineyard of the wife of dominus Martinus, and the third is below the archbishop’s vineyard. (13) The Order bought from domina Iuliana a house near the leprosary for 8 besants. (14) The Order bought 2 frusta terre, 3 houses and a garden from domina Margarita for 85 besants. (15) The Order bought 2 vineyards and a garden at Therum, another garden at turonum suspensorum, and a house from Guillelmus Tabach for 160 besants. (16) The Order bought a vineyard from Robelinus, the son of Guillelmus sutor, for 125 besants. (17) The Order bought half a mill from the children of Bernardus Dives and Reinaldus their brother-in-law (sororius) for 30 besants. (18) The Order bought a house from Iohannes Rosa for 25 besants. (19) The Order bought a vineyard, a garden, a house, a cistern and all his inheritance from Poncius, the son of magister Robertus de Ianie, for 240 besants. (20) The Order bought a garden, situated near the villa, before the garden of the children of frater Francus, from dominus Rodulfus miles Theutonicus for 50 besants. (21) The Order bought the inheritance of Bonicasus from his wife and from dominus Andreas Burguinus, his wife and their son Henricus for 400 besants. (22) The Order spent 30 besants buying 1 pecia terre in Jaffa, at the oven (fornax) near its curia, from a certain lady. (23) The Order’s representative frater Robertus bought 1 pecia terre outside the town of Jaffa for 40 besants. (24) The Order bought a house outside the city gate of Acre from Guiot, Albertus, Rudulfus and his wife for 250 besants. It will pay annually a rent (census) of 4 besants. (25) The Order bought 5 carrucate terre at Saphet and a wolta from domina Hensalme, socer domini Menebof, for 1,300 besants. (26) The Order bought a garden over the arena at Tyre for 200 besants. (27) The Order bought 1 pecia terre at Tyre, consisting of 5 [car]rucate terre and adjoining its land [...] on the mountain [...] for 65 [...] (28) Dominus Philippus de Malgastel and his wife gave the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans a casale called Corsie in the lordship (in pertinenciis) of Tiberias (29) Iohannes Tortus sold the Order his house in Acre for 600 marchae argenti and 700 besants, and the sale was confirmed by lord John of Ibelin (dominus Iohannes de Ybelino). (30) The Order bought a curia in Acre behind the seleria from Iohannes Strakei and Guilion, men subject to (homines) the Knights Templar (or Templum Domini(?)), for 650 besants. (31) The Order bought a house behind the palmanteria in Acre for 280 besants. (32) The Order bought a curia next to its infirmary In Acre from the nuns of Tyre for 1,000 besants. (33) The Order bought a house from the archbishop (archiepiscopus) Iacobinorum for 350 besants. The house is next to its curia and the house it bought from the nuns of Tyre. (34) The Order bought a curia, situated behind the Order’s palacium called Chisseria in Acre, which belonged to Nicholaus and his brother, who were scriptores, for 2,024 besants. (35) The Order bought a house in Acre, behind the curia of the magister, from Raimundus scriptor for 1,012 besants. (36) The Order bought a house, situated in the [same] street as the house of the above-mentioned Raimundus, from Petrus Corvisarius for 175 besants. (37) The Order bought 1 pecia terre in Acre, situated before the barria domini Aymonis, for 18 besants and a rent (census) of half a besant a year. (38) The Order bought 1 pecia terre, located within its vineyard in Sidon, from a rusticus for 40 besants.
