text: Jan. 15. Lateran. The patriarch of Jerusalem had informed Pope Innocent III that he had annulled the action of the chapter of Nicosia. In the election of the archbishop it had nominated 2 names to the king of Cyprus, who had chosen the thesaurarius ecclesiae. This may have been by ancient custom, but it is uncanonical and the pope orders the chapter to elect an archbishop freely. The appointment will be confirmed by the patriarch, the archbishop of Caesarea and the bishop of Acre, whom the pope appoints his representatives in this matter.
