text: Sept. 14. Rome. Writing to Petrus prior and the canons of the Holy Sepulchre, Pope Lucius II takes them under apostolic protection and confirms the rights and properties granted by Duke Godfrey, King Baldwin [I] and Patriarch Arnulf [of Chocques]: half of all oblations offered to the Holy Sepulchre; oblations to the relic of the True Cross, except on Good Friday or when the patriarch has some need of them; the tithes of the city of Jerusalem and the lands around, except for the tithes of the funda and of half of the benefice handed by the king in exchange for the bishopric of Bethlehem; the church of St Peter in Jaffa.
