He gives the casale of Clavodie, just as it had been held by dominus Iohannes de Milmars, with its villani, chevagii and all rights, and the house with its surroundings in Nicosia that had belonged to Druon de Bedort. The Hospital of St Mary of the Germans surrenders its claims to houses in Nicosia given by King Aimery of Cyprus. text: Aug. 1-31. Nicosia. Henry, Dei gratia rex Cipri, records and confirms under seal that his liegeman [homo ligius] Balduynus de Morfo has in his presence and with his agreement made an eleemosynary grant to the church of Nicosia of an annual rent of 120 white besants, payable in 4 instalments of 30 besants. The rent will be drawn from the assisia of 1000 white besants that King Henry gave Balduynus from the revenues of Sanctus Sabas in the territory of Paphos. In return, the church of Nicosia is held to to provide a priest to celebrate divine office for the souls of Balduinus and his predecessors. Should the assisia of 1000 besants revert to the crown or be alienated by the family of Balduinus, the king or other possessor will pay the church of Nicosia the rent of 120 besants, in the king’s case drawn on the revenues of Sanctus Sabas. Henry, par la grace de Deu roi de Chypre, records that he has given Balian d’Ybelin seignor de Baruth et conestable de Chypre and [his wife] Eschive de Mombelian the casalia called Esteriga and Paleochorio, with the villains, villaines and children living in them, but with the exception of gifts made by his ancestors and the droiture de l’apaut de laudene. Now, in Henry’s presence and that of his court [cort], Balian de Ybelin and Eschive make an eleemosynary grant of Esteriga and Paleochorio to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, represented by frere Guillaume de Forest comandor, with the exceptions already specified. He gives an annual rent of 200 white besants, assigned on the revenues of the casale called Morfites, payable at harvest time [tempore arearum] in August. If the rent cannot be paid, it will be made up from other revenues in the kingdom of Cyprus. The church of Nicosia is held to provide a priest to celebrate the divine office for the soul of Hugo perpetually. text: Dec. 1-31. Nicosia. Henry, Dei gratia rex Cipri, issues a sealed confirmation of the eleemosynary grant to the church of Nicosia, which had been made to benefit the soul of his great uncle Guy, king of Jerusalem and lord of Cyprus, at the time of his death. The grant was of a rent of 100 white besants a year, to be drawn from the revenues of the brick kiln [testaria] in the city of Nicosia. If the rent failed, the sum was to be made up from other revenues in the kingdom of Cyprus. It is payable each year in 4 instalments of 25 besants each. It also includes rents of 60 modii of wheat, to be paid each August, and 50 metrae of wine, to be paid each November. The assisiae of wheat and wine are to be delivered to the house of the priest instituted in the church of Nicosia by the archbishop, who is bound to provide such a priest to celebrate the divine office for Guy’s soul perpetually.
