text: 1157-1168. Guillaume, abbot of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, grants Gabriel Sellem Eisse, Pierre Léon, Pierre Georges Eisse and their heirs land near Tyre besides the aqueduct [conductus] to plant a vineyard. They will render a quarter of the crop to the abbey. After holding the land for 3 years they can sell it or develop it in any way they please, provided the abbey’s rights are preserved. If these Suriani, or those to whom they will have sold or pledged the land, do not farm it or the vines well, the property will revert to St Mary. During the first 3 years, and at other times if necessary, a guardian will oversee the land at their expense [à frais communs]. Witnesses: Gaufridus de Pinu magister Tyri; Willelmus de Joppe; Guibertus; Theobaldus coementarius.
