text: Oct. 25. Lateran. At their request Pope Honorius III takes N. abbas monasterii Sancti Theodosii Cenobiarce de Laberia and his brothers under papal protection. He confirms their religious life according to the rule of St Basil and their possessions, which he specifies as follows. In Jerusalem they have the place [locus] in which the monastery is situated, together with the church of St Theodosius with a hospital [hospitale], shops [apothece], an oven, vineyards in the 2 monasteries of St John the Baptist and St George; lands at Ramla; lands and a vineyard with a hospital at Ascalon [Scalona]; outside Jaffa the church of St Jonah and within the town shops [apothece] and a hospital with a large vineyard; the right to have 2 ships free [of dues] in the sea off Jaffa; an obedientia at Zevel, together with the church of SS. Peter and Paul and all the market place [forum] with shops [apothece], and a hospital, and a casale. On the island of Cyprus they have the monastery of St Theodosius, which is called de Acra; the tenements [tenementa] called Tromachii with a mill and vineyards; lands at Perdica; the church of St Cassian with its tenements; the church of St George with its dependencies; the tenements called de Glifeo and Geratium; the church of St Alexander with its tenements; at Pissurum the church of St Michael the Archangel with a casale and tenements; the church of Sancta Crux de Aletorum with a casale and tenements; the lands of de Ru and de Virsu; Petra Remei and the seashore as far as Geratum with a fishery and lands; the obedientia de Cay flumine with lands as far as the road; the church of Sanctus Georgius de Pirgo with an olive grove, woods and lands called Corrigee, and the church of St Michael the Archangel; all the terrae de Caumate; the obedientia de Paleopafo with a mill, lands and apple orchards; the church of Sancta Maria de Paracellis with a casale and lands; the church of Sancta Maria de Magnacomis with a casale and tenements extending as far as half of the vineyards of St Sabas, where there is a spring [fons]; the obedientia de Palemedia with lands and olive groves; at Limassol [Nemesium] the apple orchard de Ambuti with lands, a house and a vicus; the obedientia called Kississa with vineyards and lands; at Leotumbis a house and a large vineyard; at Nicosia [Leocosia] the church of St Nicholas with a hospital, apple orchard and lands. There then follows a list of properties in Hungary. Since the Greeks [Greci] were not accustomed to pay tithes, the pope grants the monastery freedom from the payment of tithes on lands held before the Fourth Lateran Council, which the monks cultivated themselves or provided animal fodder, but tithes will be payable on lands acquired after the council that will be farmed by others. The monastery may receive postulants. The diocesan bishop will be responsible for providing chrism and other holy oils, the consecration of altars and churches and ordinations. The monks are freed from observance of interdicts. Crime is forbidden within enclosure. The election of abbots should be free.
