With the authority and consent of King Philip II of France, domnus Phylippus comes Flandrie, domnus dux Burgundie, domnus dux de Osterico, and of all the comites and barones in the Christian army at Acre, and with the authority and consent of domnus Iosius Tyrensis archiepiscopus, domnus Randulfus Bellemitanus episcopus, and of the Orders of the Knights Templar and the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, Conradus marchionis Montisferrati filius, per dei gratiam rex Ierosolimorum electus, and his wife domna Isabella, regis Aimalrici filia, confirm under seal for Dominicus Contarini and Iohannes Morecini, legates of the lord Orio Mastropiero, doge of Venice, and the commune of Venice, all the gifts, lands, possessions, honours and liberties and rights to hold curiae conceded to Domenico Michiel doge of Venice by Patriarch Warmund of Jerusalem; specifically what was granted in and outside Tyre and in its territory. Once Acre and Jerusalem and the rest of the kingdom’s cities are recovered the Venetians will also enjoy in them what was described in Warmund’s charter. text: Apr. 6-28. Tyre. Mindful of the magnificent contribution the city of Genoa made to the liberation of the eastern regions, its defence [of Tyre] and now the part its milites, pedites, balistarii and sagittarii, and siege engines have played in the siege of Acre, and with the consent of his wife Hysabella regis Amalrici filia, Conradus Montisferrati marchio et Tyri dominus makes a sealed grant to the commune of the city of Genoa, represented by Guillelmus Ricius Ianuensium consul in Syria. He confirms its possession of a curia and ruga in the city of Acre, just as it held them before, and whatever it had outside Acre. He also gives a third part of the entry charges [introitus] of the cathena of Acre, together with freedom to enter and leave by sea or land and to buy and sell in the fundicum and catena, and throughout the city, without paying any charge [redditus]. He gives the Genoese the right to a curia, house, bath house and oven, and to entry and departure and to buy and sell in Jaffa, Ascalon and Jerusalem, and in all the territory he should acquire, with the same freedom they have in Tyre and Acre. He promises to restore the golden Genoese inscription in the church of the Holy Sepulchre.
