text: † Jan. 20. [295] With the agreement of his wife Queen Maria, John, per dei gratiam rex Ierusalem decimus et comes Brene, makes a sealed confirmation of the rights of the city of Marseille, presented to him by its consuls in Acre, Guillelmus Iordun and Miguel Donade. He confirms the freedom [franchisia] of the citizens of Marseille in Acre and their ruga, the bounds of which have been established by ansiani homines terre, domnus Clerebaldus de Molinis, Adam Coste, Helyas de Nazareth, Tomas de Sancti Abraham and Ysaac de Ierusalem. The ruga, which is a burgesia, runs from the church of St Demetrius to the volta scura that belonged to Marinus de Gadere and overlooks 2 rugae, and extends further, close to the katena. Because his daughter Ysabella is going to marry the emperor, who will ratify all rights, John confirms the possession of the ruga by the citizens of Marseille. Witnesses: Philippus de Ybelino; Guido de Monfort; Iacobus de Durnai regni marescalcus; Guarnerius Teothonicus; Rohardus domnus Cayphe; Galterius de Montebeliardo; Danielus de Molenbec; Guillelmus frater eius. The charter was drawn up and written by domnus Guido capellanus regis.
