text: Jan. 1-31. Biblium. On becoming a confrater of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and with the consent of his wife Aalis, the sister of Bohemond [IV], prince of Antioch and count of Tripoli, Guido dominus Biblii makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John, represented by frater Guarinus de Monte Acuto magister, of a rent of 1000 besants in revenues from the territory of Latakia or Saonia, or a casale and other property, which had been given to him on his marriage by Bohemond in December 1204. He incorporates the charter from Bohemond. Guido records that with the consent of Aalis/Haalis he has also given the Hospital of St John a casale called Betzaal, with all rights and lordship [dominium] and with the rustici living in it; the freedom to buy and sell in the city of Biblium and throughout his lordship, in the port, in the funda and elsewhere, without the payment of dues [jus plateaticus or other consuetudo]; and the freedom of Hospitaller vessels [vasselli] to come and go free of charges. With the agreement of Aalis his wife, Guido dominus Biblij makes a sealed grant to the Venetians, represented by Theophylus Genus, Baiulus in Suria [ex] precepto Petris Ziani Ducis Venetie. He gives safe-conduct in his lands in person and goods, going, coming, staying, buying and selling by sea and land. He halves the dues payable on merchandise sold or bought from 4 besants and 4 quarroblae in every 100, to 2 besants and 2 quarroblae. text: Dec. 1-24. Guido dominus Biblii issues a sealed confirmation to Johannes abbas Sancti Sergii in the presence of frater Johannes monachus Cistercii. He confirms the sale to the Cistercian brothers of Sanctus Sergius by Johannes de Maschina of an olive grove [campus olivarum] on the plain before Biblium, above Sanctus Theodorus, and a vineyard adjoining it for 60 Saracen besants. The grove and vineyard have a wall to the east, the public way to the west, another wall to the north and the church of Sanctus Theodorus to the south. The confirmation is conditional on the Cistercian retaining the abbey of Sanctus Sergius. Should they abandon it, the grove and vineyard will revert to Guido, who also confirms his eleemosynary grant of 1-30 September 1238.
