text: Mar. 8/27 1170 - Mar. 7/26 1171. [125] Bohemond III, the son of Prince Raymond, Dei gratia princeps Antiochenus, with the agreement of his wife domina Orgollosa principissa, confirms under seal for the church of St Mary, the archbishop, consuls, senators and members of the commune of Pisa and its province residing in his principality land to build a house in the port of Latakia. This land extends below the church of St Elyas, before the house of the Templars [domus Templi] and the house of magister Ugo, as far as the sea, and along the seashore as far as a tannery [taneria] and the old wall, and in the upper part as far as the ditch. If the Pisans by the judgement of court [iudicium curie] can recover the land in the port occupied by Hugo Embriacus, the son of Willelmus, the land now given will revert to the prince. Bohemond gives in addition a house in the city of Antioch that belonged to dominus Odo de Tyro. He assures the Pisans of the security of their persons and goods in case of shipwreck and of the property of those who should die, except when they are intestate. He remits half of all taxes [medietas totius iuris] customarily paid on entry and departure, coming and returning, buying and selling, throughout his territory and he assures them of his protection. Disputes between them can be settled in their own court [curia], but if a case cannot be decided, or involves theft, predation, homicide or the subjects of Antioch, it will decided in the prince’s court. Witnesses: Guiscardus de Insula vicecomestabulus; Rogerius de Surdavalle; Willelmus de Lobjs; Guafridus de Dor-dan; Iohannes de Salgin; Guiscardus de Nazareht; Henricus de Loges. text: Apr. 14. Tyre. At the request of dominus Conradus marchio, Iocius ecclesie Tyrensis archiepiscopus gives the Genoese in Tyre the right to found a new chapel, with a chaplain appointed by the church of Genoa, to minister to the Genoese. The chaplain will promise obedience to the archbishop of Tyre and his jurisdiction, respecting his authority with regard to confessions, the right to hear which is conceded by the archbishop, burials, baptisms, marriages and the purification of women. On his side the archbishop of Tyre promises protection. The Genoese promise that they will ask for confirmation of this from the pope. The agreement is sealed by the archbishops of Tyre and Genoa, by the consuls of Genoa and by Guido Spinola consul Ianuensium presens. Witnesses: W. Hugh, Dei gratia rex Cypri, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to frater Garinus de Monte Acuto magister sancte domus Hospitalis sancti Joannis and the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He gives: the casale of Platanistias, situated in the territory of Paphos, with all rights, including villani, chevagii, dimi; the casale called Colos in the territory of Limassol, with all the rights, including villani, chevagii and dimi, that were held by Garinus de Colos, who has willingly surrendered them in exchange for another grant from the king; the prastia Monagrole, situated in the territory of Limassol, with all the land Hardewinus held there and with all rights, including villani, chevagii and dymi. King Hugh makes a further eleemosynary grant, to benefit the soul of his father King Aimery, of a prastia called Finica in the territory of Paphos with all rights, including villani, chevagii and dymi.He grants all the chevagia and dymi of the villani and their heirs in these lands. At the request of frater Guillelmus de Belna, preceptor domus Hospitalis in Cypro, he allows the commandery [domus] of the Hospital in Nicosia, together with the community [domus] of Mora and that of S. Georgius, to grind wheat [bladum] in his mill de la Questria without the payment of dues. He gives the Hospital of St John the houses and plateae that had belonged to Lambita Sabastos and his sister in Limassol. He gives a garden in Limassol, adjoining the houses of Guischon Span and Girardus de Maske and the bath house. He gives the Hospitallers the right to buy and sell their goods throughout Cyprus without the payment of dues.
