text: Aug. 19. Anagni. At the request of the patriarch of Antioch, Pope Gregory IX orders the bishop of Tortosa [episcopus Anteradensis] to reinvestigate an old dispute, between the patriarch of Antioch on one side and the patriarch of Jerusalem, the archbishops of Tyre and Petra and the bishops of Sidon and Beirut on the other, over Antioch’s claims to jurisdiction over the provinces of Tyre and Petra [Petracensis archiepiscopatus] and especially the dioceses of Beirut and Sidon. This had already been judged by Pope Eugenius III.

The bishop of Tripoli has refused to confirm the election by the chapter of the ecclesia Sancti Michaelis Tripolitani ordinis Sancti Augustini of Johannes de Valentia as prior.
