He gives freedom from the payment of dues [ius et consuetudo] on all goods they import and export through the cathena of Beirut and send or have sent to Beirut. They will be free from the payment of all dues on their purchases in the funda of Beirut and from the payment of terciaria on all ships [vasella] carrying goods they have bought in the funda. No Genoese ship applying to Beirut need pay ancoragia. He gives the Genoese a free court [curia libera] in Beirut, with the same rights as those enjoyed by their courts in Acre, Tyre and the kingdom of Jerusalem. He confirms their possession of houses that had belonged to Rubaldus Corvus, which ought to be in the state they were in on the last Feast of St Barbara [4 December]. The Genoese may use the bath house before the castle of Beirut on Thursday every week. The Genoese in general will not suffer if one of their compatriots commits an act of piracy against Iohannes or his homines. The goods on Genoese ships wrecked on the coast of the lordship of Beirut will be secure. text: April. 1-30. Nicosia. At the request of Vuillelmus vicecomes and his wife, Katherina, the daughter of the vicecomitissa Nephyni, and with the consent of his chapter, E. Nicosiensis archiepiscopus establishes under seal a [chantry] priest at Nicia. Vuillelmus and his wife promise that they and their heirs will provide 50 modii of wheat, 50 modii of barley and 5 modii of vegetables each August. And they assign to the capellanus a garden in the casale and a house with a curia as living quarters. The archbishop adds a further annual rent of 30 modii of wheat, 30 modii of barley and 100 white besants [bisancii albi]. Vuillelmus and his wife will persuade the queen to seal this agreement as well.

Cardinal Pelagius of Albano, the papal legate, issues a sealed confirmation of the sale made by Simon Tirensis archiepiscopus, in the presence of Patriarch Ralph of Jerusalem, the bishops of Bethlehem and Valenia [Valiensis], the magister of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, and the abbots of Mt Sion, Templum Domini, and St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, to Eustorgius Nicosiensis archiepiscopus of the casale in Cyprus called Livadi for 2200 Saracen besants. The casale had been given to the archbishop and church of Tyre by King Aimery. The magister of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem promised to transfer the cash to the archbishop of Tyre.

He confirms their freedom from the payment of dues [ius et consuetudo] on all goods they import and export to and from Beirut, although he limits this to those brought and taken out by sea. He now excludes all pottery [excepto omni opere porterie], wine and oil, which will now be subject to measuring and will be charged either at 1 denarius for every 5 iarri Beritenses, or, if the mensurator ville is involved, at 2 denarii for every 5 iarri, and wheat [bladum], which will be charged at 1 denarius for every 2 modii. He also gives them the right to have a curia, which can deal with cases involving disputes between themselves and the members of other communes, but he reserves those involving homicide or the spilling of blood. Marie Magdalene in Accon ordinis Cisterciensis abbatissa, records that she has received from frater Guarinus de Monte Acuto sancte domus Hospitalis Iherusalem magister et Christi pauperum custos and his brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem houses with a platea for a rent, payable each Christmas, of 25 Saracen besants, which will not be affected by any damage that might occur to the houses. The rental agreement has been confirmed in a charter issued by the Hospital of St John. The houses with the platea are situated in the suburb of Acre, in the place commonly called Mons Musardus. On the east they front on to the public way that goes from S. Egidius to the Magdalena. On the south they adjoin the land of Guido de Glia Pisanus. On the west is another public way and on the north they adjoin the abbey of S. Maria Magdalena. At the request of the nuns of S. Maria Magdalena, magister Petrus prior dominici Sepulchri, vicarius domini patriarche, and the chapter of the church of Acre affix their seals.
