December 11. Lateran. Pope Alexander IV writes to the same [Patriarch Jacobus (Pantaléon) of Jerusalem], relating that the patriarch's petition shown to him claimed that in cathedrals and other churches in his patriarchate the customary number of those who serve has decreased, although the faculties of the churches have not declined to the same extent, on account of which those churches are defrauded of their due services. The pope responds to the patriarch's request by granting that he can arrange those churches as he sees fit according to their faculties, if those responsible for this arrangement do not do so themselves within six months of the patriarch's admonition.
