January 28. Naples. Pope Alexander IV writes to Archbishop Hugo of Nicosia (Nicosiensis), responding to his entreaties by granting that he cannot be forced by a papal or legatine letter to receive anyone in the cathedral or in other churches of his city or diocese, or to provide high or minor offices, prebends, benefices, or pensions, unless the papal letter quotes this indulgence in full and verbatim and makes explicit mention of the archbishop's church.
