text:
. *Late 1252 (after the Cistercian General Council meeting in September (?)) Cardinal John [Tolet] writes to unnamed Cistercian abbots reporting on the hostility between the sultan of Egypt (Babiloniae) and sultan of Aleppo (Halapensium) which is speeding the chances of a deal with the king of France. (The text then mentions a 15-year truce with the sultan of Egypt against the sultan of Aleppo, although it is not clear whether this is taken from the letter.)
