May 15. Lateran. Pope Alexander IV writes to Bishop [Alberto Boschetti] of Moderna (Mutinensis), relating that Archdeacon Bartholomeus of Tripoli, papal chaplain, informed him with his petition that he was received as canon in the church of Reggio (Regina) on the authority of a letter of the patriarch of Aquileia (Aquilegensis), then papal legate in Lombardy, but he had not yet received a prebend, since he had lost the pertinent letter and instrument because of the disturbance of the past time. Thus Pope I[nnocentius IV] ordered the then bishop-elect [Guglielmo da Fogliano] of Reggio (Reginus) that, if he remembered the reception, he should grant the prebend if one is vacant or as soon as possible, removing any illicit holder. Although the bishop committed his role to Godo de Ganaceto (Bourel de La Roncière wrongly has “Godo et Ganaceto”) canon of Moderna (Mutinensis) and admitted that he was present at the reception, Bartholomeus has not yet obtained anything. The pope orders the addressee to make sure that the bishop follows through.
