January 16. Lateran. Pope Alexander IV writes to Hugo, canon of Limassaol (Nimociensis), the nephew of Master Johannes de Camezano, papal chaplain and auditor of papal contradictory letters, relating that when he heard that Hugo intended to resign the office of overseer of the granary and the lands that he possessed in the church of Brives (Brivatensis ), where he is a canon, and any rights in them, and that Guillelmus de Cros, then canon of Limsassol, intended to do the same with his place, canonry, and prebend that he had in the church of Limassol, the pope committed to Master Jacobus de Mirabello, canon of Novara (Novariensis), the corrector of papal letters, the task of receiving these things directly or via procurators and assigning Guillemus’ things to Hugo and Hugo’s things to Guillelmus, which Jacobus did via Hugo’s procurator Master Philippus Caballo and Guillelmus’ procurator Petrus de Banhols, a cleric, notwithstanding if Hugo was beneficed elsewhere or if in the churches Brivatensis and/or Limassol (Nimociensis) there were expectant canons received by any authority. The pope now confirms what Jacobus did and has Jacobus’ letter inserted. Jacobus’ letter includes the information that Guillelmus is also a canon Claromontensis and Philipus is a cleric of Johannes de Camezano. Jacobus’ letter is dated the Lateran, January 8, 1257, drawn up by Thomas, notary of the Roman Church, and given before several witnesses.
