June 1 – 30. Acre. Egidius, archbishop of Tyre, announces that Thomas Cordarius in the presence of William of Chastel Neuf (Guillermus de Castronovo), the Hospitaller master, has sold the archbishop a house that he holds from the Order in the street of the English for an annual rent of 2 Saracen besants payable on the feast of St Martin in November for 400 besants so that he can build a hospital for the poor. Since Johannes Brisebacin, in the presence of the master, shall have sold another house situated in the same street which he held from the Hospitallers for a rent of 3 Saracen besants, payable on the same day, we wish that whoever holds these houses shall in future pay the same rent, totalling 5 besants, plus and addition 3 besants. Should the occupants wish to sell, the Hospitallers have a right to pre-emption. The houses can be sold to anyone except that they are not to be sold to men of religion, clerics, knights, servants or the men of any of the communes. If the houses are damaged by earthquake, fire, water or in any other manner, the Hospitallers are not obliged to remit the rent. The houses are adjacent and are bounded on the east by the common road, on the west by the sea, on the south next to the house of Joannes Brisebacin is the house of the late Paumerius and to the north of the house of Thomas Cordarius is a certain house belonging to the Hospitallers. The archbishop seals this document with his lead seal.
