. September 27. Anagni. Pope Innocent IV informs all the faithful of Christ that the Roman Church must defend orphans as the natural protector of his devoted and humble sons. The pope decided to protect the territories and rights of the underaged illustrious king of Jerusalem and duke of Swabia, Conradin, who is the son of the late Conrad [IV], whose father was the late former Roman emperor Frederick [II], and, due to his rights on the Kingdom of Sicily, the Sicilians are allowed to add in their oaths to the Roman Church the clause ‘the Conradin’s honour being saved’.
