Pope Innocent IV writes to the clergy of the city and diocese of Limassol, relating that since the provision of the church of Limassol devolved on him because it had been vacant for a long time, the pope appointed as bishop and pastor of the church of Limassol Bartolomeo [de Braganza] of the Order of Preachers, then papal chaplain and penitentiary and also regent [master] in the theology faculty at the papal curia, a famous, learned, honest, and mature man. The pope orders the Limassol clergy to receive him as father and pastor and to show him fitting obedience and reverence, observing his warnings and mandates devoutly and humbly.
