[Cardinal-]bishop of Albano Pierre [de Colmieu] writes to the priest Brother John, canon of Episcopia (i.e. Bellapais) of the Order of St Augustine in the diocese of Nicosia, relating that the pope was told on the addressee’s behalf that, when he was of a young age, he promised a certain sum of money to a cleric of a certain bishop so that he would be promoted to all holy orders, and finally, when the money was paid, he was so promoted. Eventually, having taken a religious habit, because of his conscience he voluntarily ceased administering in those orders for fourteen years, and asked to be provided for. The cardinal, to whom the pope assigned the case, grants John a dispensation so that he can administer in those orders while in the religious habit.
