. December 20. Perugia. Pope Innocent IV writes to the Greek bishops of Cyprus, relating that they sent envoys who told him that when Archbishop [Neophytos] died, their archiepiscopal see was vacant for a long time and obstacles prevented them from freely arranging for a successor as the Greek bishops had done from ancient times. The pope responds favourably to their entreaties, allowing them to elect a successor, notwithstanding the uncanonical delay.
