At the request of the prior of St Thomas of Acre and St George de Xisto, Pope Innocent III takes the Order of St Thomas under papal protection and confirms its possessions, referring specifically to the churches of St Mary, St Peter and St Nicholas de Campo Anglorum, and the hospital of St Thomas [in Acre]. [289] He confirms the privilege granted to the prior by Pope Alexander III of the ring, pastoral staff and mitre, to be worn at Feasts. The priory will pay the Holy See 2 Saracen besants a year.
