Jul. 12. San Germano. Pope Innocent III informs the patriarch of Jerusalem that he has heard with sadness that the patriarch of Antioch has died while imprisoned by the count of Tripoli. He orders the patriarch of Jerusalem to assist the church of Antioch and, representing the pope, to absolve any canons of Antioch from excommunication, to assist in their canonical election of a new patriarch, to resolve the issue of a new dean and to impose the excommunication of the count of Tripoli strictly until he makes satisfaction.
