Barisanus Joppe constabularius makes an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John, represented by domnus Raimundus, qui post Deum et sanctum Johannem ut domum et pauperes regeret communi electione electus fuit. Barisanus gives a casale called Algie, situated in the territory of Ascalon, with the agreement of Hugo Joppe dominus, his wife Emma and other barones. Hugo gives the Hospital land in Jaffa which Radulfus Hospitalis held before he died. Witnesses: Julduinus abbas S. text: Jan. 1-31. [113] Bohemond III, son of Prince Raymond, Dei gratia princeps Antiochenus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, Girbertus Hospitalis magister and his brothers. He gives Rochefort with an abbatia, Cava, Levonia, Tala, Bachfela, Gaigon, Glorieta with a spring that waters the gardens, casale S. Egidii with the torone de Belda, half of Rogia together with the other half which Bohemond has acquired from Reinaldus Masoerius and his heirs, Arcicant, Farmith, Femia with its lake, Logis, Bochabes with the casale de Pailes; other lordships and liege lordships [dominationes et liggianciae] that Femia has in Syria, Berssaphut, castellum de Lacoba and Totomota. With the consent of the inhabitants, Bohemond concedes all these, together with his lordships and liege lordships in them, with the agreement of those who have rights, feoda and heritages. The Hospitallers can make war and peace with neighbouring Muslim powers as they please and, when notified, Bohemond will observe them. On the other hand neither he nor his homines will make treaties with the Sarraceni, nor with any Christians allied to them, without the advice of the Hospitallers. If the Hospitallers are not consulted they can react as they please. They can enjoy all the proceeds of the spoils of war. Bohemond confirms the privileges granted by his father of free import or export of goods without the payment of any tax [consuetudo et exactio curie] All gifts made by his homines will be confirmed, provided that the number of knights’ fiefs [feodum militis] are not lessened and his curia loses servicium. text: Dec. 1-24. Raymond III Tripolis comes, son of Count Raymond II and Hodierna comitissa, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant in return for the aid given by Josbertus Hospitalis Iherusalem magister, frater Arnaudus Lombardus and other brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem in securing his release from captivity and the help they have always given him. He confirms all the gifts made by his predecessors and his father Count Raymond II. He adds to them the surrender of the half of all spoil taken from the Sarraceni, which attached to his father’s standard [vexillum] and which his father had retained. This right of ‘vexillum’ is to be enjoyed by the Hospitallers. John, per dei gratiam Latinorum Ierusalem rex decimus et comes Brene, and the Lady Queen Maria his wife confirm under seal for Santius Dominici Sepulcri prior and the chapter of the Holy Sepulchre the canons’ purchase of a garden near Acre, together with houses and land around the garden, from Willelmus Pomaranus. In an eleemosynary grant, John and Maria renounce any rights they have had over the garden and allow the canons to import the produce [fructus et herbae] on their horses into Acre and to sell it without the payment of dues [exactio].
